The mayor reported the excellent feedback we received from our annual survey. We are pleased to report that 95% of respondents are satisfied with the quality of life in Carmel, and we hope to see this continue in the future.
The Housing Task Force continues to meet and we look forward to the results of this as well.
Committee Updates
The Land Use and Special Studies Committee met to discuss the Gramercy project. on Wednesday, May 21st, at 5:30 in the Carmel Clay Public Library. We heard from residents of Gramercy who had concerns about the project and facilitated a discussion with the developer and department of community service. After residents felt that there concerns would be addressed by the developer the project was given a positive recommendation and now goes to Finance committee before coming back to council for a vote later.
The Carmel Redevelopment Commission shared exciting updates about developments going on around Carmel. The Council is excited to continue developing Carmel in a sustainable and efficient way.
The Council was very excited to receive updates from Carmel Christkindlmart. The market first opened in 2017 and has achieved incredible financial success. The mission of the market is to provide an authentic German holiday experience for visitors that is unrivaled in the Midwest. The Council is pleased with how well the market is doing. As the Market has matured and become more self sufficient, their will be discussions on how the city continues to support them.
